Lance and Caitlin’s Cincinnati Wedding Photography -Drees Pavilion

I photographed a beautiful couple on Sunday at the Drees Pavilion at Devou Park. This venue offers an incomparable view of the Cincinnati skyline as you can see from the slideshow by clicking on the image of Caitlin and Lance below. At the end of the reception, the newlyweds walked through a tunnel of sparklers on their way to a helicopter departure.

Recommended Vendors at the wedding
I worked with two highly capable professional vendors during the evening: Tim Fritts, the owner of Party Pleasers DJs and Larry Jensen, the owner of Forever Wedding Video. I’ve had the pleasure of working with both of these vendors before and I am happy to recommended them.

Indianapolis Wedding Photographers | Justin and Fatima

Fatima and Justin were married at Indianapolis Art Museum on Sunday August 31, 2008. I’ll follow up with more images later, but first I wanted to post the following pictures. This image on the left was taken at 6:17 PM with the sunset officially occurring at 8:18PM. Looks like a very ordinary image with the white of sky being clipped in the histogram. Settings for this image were 1/50 sec. f5.0, ISO 640.  Literally, no more than one minute later, I was able to produce the image on the right. Here, the images is well developed with the eye being drawn to the bride and groom being the brightest part of the image rather than the overblown sky.

So what happened?

Fatima, Justin and I lucked into being at the Love sculpture at IMA when another photographer was photographing his family using a White-Lightning Beauty Dish. He offered to let me use it and hence the beautiful result. The setting were 1/250 sec. f8.0, ISO 200. As you can see, the sky looks like it is about to set. In reality however in the first photo, we still had a couple of hours of light to go.

Ernesto and Jessica’s Wedding – Parador Inn, Pittsburgh

I traveled to Pittsburgh to photograph Jessica and Ernesto’s wedding. The wedding was a very intimate affair with a handful of friends and both families present. The ceremony was held at a Carribbean-style Bed and Breakfast, “Parador Inn”. I put together a slideshow of the images, click on the image of Jessica’s flowers to activate the link.

Chris & Amy’s Engagement | Inniswood Metro Park

Maxim Photo Studio photographed Amy and Christopher’s engagement in Westerville OH. We started the shoot in downtown Westerville, a quiet and quaint suburb of Columbus and then drove to the incomparable Inniswood Metro Park. The park had everything, beautiful gardens, sloping landscapes, scenic woodlands and numerous waterways throughout the park. We took so many great images that it was hard ti select the best of the best below. Their wedding is on December 14th and we are looking forward to photographing them. Click the image below for some of the choice selections.

2008 Dayton Airshow

I was privileged, as a member of the press, to get a 20 minute ride on the Huey Helicopter at the Dayton Airshow. The rides were provided by “The Sky Soldiers”, a demonstration, all volunteer team composed of former military aviators some of whom flew the original Hueys in Vietnam. Today’s Hueys were fully refurbished with brand new engines, all of the bullet holes were patched up and seats added for comfort. The original Vietnam versions were “bare bones” with the military personnel having to hold on for dear lives by little hooks on the floor and no seats or seatbelts. The sound of the rotating blades spinning at 324 revolutions per minute still made that familiar sound of the Vietnam war footage sound. Here is a video of a Huey ride along with other helicopter demonstrations with one of the Sky Solders’ pilots. Here is the Huey on which I flew and other images from the show.

Barack Obama Visits Dayton

Yesterday I photographed Barack Obama’s speech on Energy policy at Stivers High School in Dayton. The speech was attended by over 500 supporters who began lining up to get their seat up to four hours prior to the event. Prior to the speech the crowd joined into spontaneous cheers of “O-Bama” and “Yes We Can”. To show that this is not a partisan venture, I also photographed President Bush’s visit to Dayton back in March. Check it out HERE.Barack Obama Speaks at Stivers High School
