Yesterday, Angela and I captured Luke and Shannon’s awesome engagement session in Dayton. We’ll be photographing their wedding in July 2012 at Lake Lyndsay..jpg)

Earlier I posted about finally moving into a new studio space and today I wanted to upload some of the images from the client area and the studio itself. The consultation is about 500 sq. ft. and we use this space for wedding and portrait consultations, sales projections, an Premier showings. It is a perfect space to invite the clients where they can relax and we can discuss their specific photography requirements.

Here is my studio space with about 600 sq. ft. of working area and 14 foot ceilings. It is perfect for bringing the lights up high and not be constrained by the low ceilings. The studio also has four large windows for great daylight shots.

Last night, Niki and I went to Wegerzyn Gardens and parts of downtown Dayton to photograph RJ and Anne’s engagement. The day went great until I mentioned that Anne graduated from Penn State and RJ was a Purdue Alum. Then IT WAS ON!!! Sort of. Check out some pics below about how RJ and Anne showcase their school colors. At the end “cooler” heads prevailed and we were able to get some additional images. We’ll be photographing their wedding at The Hilton Netherlands Plaza in Cincinnati in September.

Amazing engagement last night. As Angela and I were driving to Wegerzyn Gardens on I-75, a torrential downpour occurred. I called Casey wanting to reschedule, but apparently the rain has just stopped at Wegerzyn. I was actually hoping for some rain so we can do some “atypical engagement” photos. Well, we got the best of both worlds. We lucked in and had some rain free weather and a period of steady rain at the end of the shoot, which was perfect for our creative shots. We look forward to photographing Casey and Ryan’s wedding in September at Polen Farm in Dayton. Check out some choice pics from yesterday.

Wendy, myself and the boys took a quick trip to Washington DC on Monday to visit family and see some of the new sights and sounds of the busy Washington DC area. It was hard to schedule a full vacation during the busy summer with all the weddings and other shoots going on, so we had to settle for a quick 3 day visit. We are returning on Thursday in time for our Friday’s wedding at the Manor House in Mason. We used to live in DC for about 24 years before moving to Ohio in 2007 so this was sort of a homecoming for all of us. Of course the kids remember very little as they were 3 & 5 year old when we left. This morning we visited the Capitol and the Arlington Cemetery and returned in the PM to see the Washington Monument, Lincoln Memorial and Gravelly Point Park for some plane landings. It was a very strange feeling to be tourists after spending a majority of our lives commuting to and from Washington DC on daily basis.
Tomorrow we are getting a tour of the White House. Here are pics from earlier today.

The image below is from the best spot in the DC area to view the incoming airplane landing at the Ronald Reagan National Airport. The planes are literally about 200 feet above your head.

The second engagement from last weekend took us to Columbus, where we met with Mehek and Michael. Both are recent Law School graduates and hence we started our shoot at the Ohio Supreme Court. We then went to (aka took over) Cup O’Joe in Lenox, where Michael and Mehek first met while doing their undergrad work at OSU.
Assisting me on Sunday was my studio’s Columbus Creative Director Joe Craig. I love how these shots turned out and we could probably have spend the whole day playing around with all the great angles of downtown Columbus and the super blue skylight. We’ll be photographing their Indian wedding in August in Columbus.
Thanks for stopping by and enjoy the post.

The portrait below on the left was taken because we wanted to get Mehek’s office in the shot. Her office is in the tall brown building facing the Supreme Court.

I love the reflection on the opposite wall.
